during my one week stay at the artist residency fish factory in stöðvarfjörður, iceland, i crafted a limited edition of 10 custom-made vinyl records for the single »shadows«, each with a hand-printed sleeve. this was a highly experimental, passionate project—born from a spontaneous idea when i first saw the record cutting lathe, with no clear plan or guarantee if and how my idea would work out. but it did. using a lathe and laser cutter, i transformed raw 12-inch vinyl disc into sculptural audio objects. the result is a fully playable, one-of-a-kind record for the beautiful single »shadows« by the rolling oranges, a young band studying at popakademie, mannheim. to complete the process, i utilized the vinyl itself as a relief printing plate for the accompanying limited-edition sleeves.
